For those of you who don’t know much about me, let me make something very clear: I LOVE CHOCOLATE. There, now it’s all out in the open.
Last night, I was shopping at my favorite dive store, Filene’s Basement, when I noticed that they had chocolate on sale. Surprisingly, they carry a lot of premium chocolate. I spotted a red velvet box with a gold bow tied around it. Admittedly, I thought it looked tacky, but I was curious to see what was inside. It was chocolate by Desage Chocolatier. The box was originally priced at $80, and through a double discount (50% off the already dirt cheap price), the total was around $18. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try an $80 box of chocolate for so little. So, I got it! I’d like to share the experience with you step by step!
1.) Start with a seemingly innocent (and somewhat cheap-looking) red velvet box.
2.) Open the box, to find a fancy Desage label pressed on the inside flap.
3.) Discover rows of gold bars!
4.) Take out a gold bar, open it up and find a piece of “100g Fine Gold” chocolate with a Credit Suisse stamp. Classy.
The chocolates are technically called Milk Chocolate with Hazelnut Desage Ingots. I shared half the box last night. Must admit it was pretty delightful to hand out gold bars to all my buddies, especially in this joke of an economy!
Hey man, i have a box tray of Credit Suisse chocolates. Is it gold wrapper really?
It’s not a real gold wrapper.
